2016 F-One Bandit 9 -Overview
Based on the stand alone patented
F-ONE DELTA C-SHAPE design, the
2016 F-One BANDIT B9 continues to fit perfectly in the
BANDIT legacy of amazing do it all performance. It's complex and demanding performance criteria were respected in each aspect and for every kiteboarding discipline. This allowed
F-One to maintain the qualities previously acquired while implementing new ones.
2016 F-One Bandit 9 -What's New:
For this 9th edition of the
2016 Fone Bandit (B9), F-One has worked essentially on the two following axes: profile refinement and the swing of the kite to improve the depower.
Fone's designer Robert GRAHAM has smoothed the profile down to perfection on the whole span of the canopy. As a result the
2016 Fone Bandit is even more stable and performing better, with no parasitic movements.
Fone also modified the way the
2016 Fone Bandit swings around its bridle and depowers, as well as the quality of the depowered profile. The
2016 Fone Bandit is now more stable in static position on the beach but also in motion during flight. Fone also changed the fabric used on the trailing edge, which used to be single layer 170 g Dacron, now upgraded with two layers of 52 g canopy fabric. This makes the kite lighter yet avoiding flapping.
Thanks to all these improvements the
2016 Fone Bandit B9 holds firmly its position on the edge of the flight window while riding with no back and forth movements (rock solid stability). The continuous traction the 2016 Fone Bandit Kite provides is impressive whatever the wind strength. The
2016 Fone Bandit Kite is especially efficient for upwind riding where the Bandit will let you ride with a better angle effortlessly with good speed control.
This new improved flight stability of the
2016 Fone Bandit Kite opens the way for some really stable steering, free of all parasitic movements. The bar feeling is more than ever direct, accurate and clean. In the low range the
2016 Fone Bandit is responsive and light while in the high range the kite proves reassuring solid feedback and absorbs the gust.
A better performer, the
2016 Fone Bandit Kite is easier to send to the top of the window for effortless massive jumps and offers more hang time. The 2016 Fone Bandit kite flies faster through the window during the loops, showing no decrease in speed before rushing back to the zenith.
For unhooked riding, the 2016 Fone Bandit's stability and ability to fly close to the edge of the window enable a better pop with a progressive traction through the handle-pass moves.
After 9 years of development on the Bandit, Fone has yet again improved and refined each size for its program:
- Larger kites of 11M or more are optimized for light air riding with a particular focus on lightness and maneuverability which are critical on these sizes. They offer an unprecedented amount of power per square meter and an improved behavior in the upper range.
- Sizes of 8-9-10M are super-efficient in any kind of winds and disciplines.
- The smaller 5-6-7M kites are targeted at wave riding. Control of the speed of the kite has been improved to help you focus on your carving lines while surfing. Superior control in the upper range and overall comfort are also proofs of the significant developments made towards wave riding as much as the gains in stability, the improvements in bar feeling and maneuverability.

DELTA C-SHAPE: DELTA C-SHAPE technology design offers unmatched stability and steering response when fully de-powered, with the possibility of connecting the front lines higher on the leading edge of the kite. This shape was the result of extensive design research towards achieving maximum optimization of the aerodynamic performances of the kite and of its depower. It gives the possibility to fit more canopy area in the middle sections to create more projected area while the C Shape makes sure the kite remains responsive and fluid. DELTA C-SHAPE is a patented design used by F-ONE on all kites for the past 8 years.

EVO De-Power & Life Line System: The EVO De-power concept is a simple 4 line system with a 4m long Life Line featuring a V shaped bridle with a pulley system on each of the front lines. This simple system offers complete safety and allows for increased de-power by finely tuning the angle of attack of the kite. When the quick release is activated the EVO system becomes the Life Line and the kite lands safely on its back with immediate and total power kill. EVO De-power offers complete control with direct and responsive steering in all riding conditions. Sheeting the bar in and out is very progressive even with the kite fully de-powered. Unhooked the kite remains light and very predictable, inspiring confidence so you can progress faster.

Auto Re-Launch: Once the kite is sitting with the leading edge flat on the water, its C-shape associated with the Delta Pivot allows the kite to automatically roll over onto one wing tip. The kite will then glide towards the edge of the window, ready for quick and easy water re-launch.

Force Frame: The FORCE FRAME is a solid Dacron structure consisting of the leading edge, the trailing edge and the struts. This high strength skeleton structure is then covered with lightweight Spy material in the least vulnerable areas. Kites with extended de-power ranges sustain more pressure across the canopy as they experience an increased frequency of use over a wider wind range. Consequently F-ONE has developed a completely new structure for the Bandit, offering optimized durability with no additional weight gain.

Fusion Struts: The struts are fused with the canopy all the way along the canopy profile where they are integrated into the FORCE FRAME. This increases the rigidity of the Force Frame and reduces drag by creating a clean and well balanced structure.

TECHNOFORCE Double Ripstop Fabric: All New super high density fabric with a tear stopping structure using thin and high tension yarn. Unmatched strength, durability, and light weight performance.

Flat Sewing: Stronger assembly of panels, seams are glued and sewn together to make the canopy more rip resistant.

Vertical Cut Struts: The Bandit 8 struts are designed with a vertical cut in order to optimize the strength/diameter ratio.

Streamlined Leading Edge End Tips: The leading edge tips are profiled with a reduced diameter and tip strap to avoid any bridles tangling and drag effect.

Refined Trailing Edge: The internal outline of the trailing edge panels is no more linear but with a series of arches. In the center, dacron has been replaced by a double layer of canopy fabtis which improves tension spreading, maintains profile, and brings new gains in stability and performance.

Kite Tuning: 3 different positions for back lines. Front: More bar pressure / slower turning kite. Back: Lighter bar pressure / faster turning kite.
